Betnesol Forte Tablet (Beclomethasone)

Betnesol Forte tablet is similar to the naturally happening steroidal hormones(hydrocortisone/cortisone) created by the adrenal glands. It is utilized to treat external and internal swelling associated with diseases like asthma, arthritis, colitis, severe skin allergies, etc. It is also used for other problems like adrenal hormonal insufficiency, certain types of anemia, cerebral edema, etc. It has a generic drug of Betamethasone Dipropionate as it’s the active ingredient.

This tablet is prescribed for the therapy, control, prevention, & improvement of the following diseases, conditions, and symptoms

• Itch or rash
• Allergic disorders
• Phimosis
• Skin inflammation
• Ataxia telangiectasia
• Eczema
• Bronchial asthma

Joint inflammation

Betnesol tablet is utilized to relieve swelling and pain associated with diseases like arthritis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis, tendinitis, gout, etc.

Allergy and inflammation

This medicine is utilized to reduce or prevent swelling and irritation related to conditions like asthma, colitis.

Skin disorders

This drug is utilized to relieve swelling, redness, itching, and burning associated with various allergic skin conditions like pemphigus vulgaris, pruritus, seborrhoeic dermatitis.

Betamethasone is a group of medicines called corticosteroids which have anti-inflammatory and immune system-suppressing activity. It stops the late phase allergic reactions by decreasing the chemicals responsible for the allergy.

Take this tablet in the dose as suggested by your physician/pharmacist. Swallow it as a whole. Don’t crush or break it. This medicine is taken by food or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Missed Dose

In case you forgot a dose, use it as soon as you sign. If Betnesol tablet is close to the time of your next doses, skip the missed dose and resume your dosing schedule. Don’t use an extra dose to make up for a forgotten dose. If you are regularly missing doses, consider setting the alarm or asking a family member to remind you. Please counsel your physician to discuss changes in your dosing or a new plan to make up for missed doses, if you have forgotten too many doses recently.

OverDose

Don’t use more than the suggested dose. Taking more drug will not improve your indications; as an alternative, they may cause poisoning or dangerous side-effects. If you have any uncertainty about an overdose of this medicine, then please go to the emergency section of the closest clinic or nursing home.

Bring a tablet box, container, or label with you to help doctors with the required info.

When not to use?

Systemic Fungal Infection

This medicine is not suggested to utilize if you have a fungal infection affecting an internal organ/organs in the body.

Allergy(hypersensitivity)

This tablet is not suggested for use if you have a known history of Allergy(hypersensitivity)to it or any other drug belonging to the category of corticosteroids.

General warnings

Allergic reactions

Other medications

Is hydrocortisone stronger than this drug?

Hydrocortisone and Betnesol belong to the same class of drugs (i.e., corticosteroids) and produce almost similar pharmacological reactions. The result may vary based on the situations and distinct response. Always follow the physician’s advice regarding its use.

Does it work in retention edema?

It is not utilized in retention edema(swelling). Glucocorticoids can cause fluid and salt preservation as an adverse effect thereby causing edema or aggravating edema. However, it does not usually cause conservation of salt and water, and the risk of inducing edema and hypertension is almost negligible.

Does it cause insomnia(inability to sleep)?

It can cause insomnia. Most people find that using this tablet for a short time causes no difficulties. Talk to your specialist or pharmacist if you experience insomnia while taking this drug.

Can I take ibuprofen with this medicine?

The risk of gastrointestinal bleeding is increased, if non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDS) like ibuprofen are taken with corticosteroids. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using Betnesol with any NSAID.
